A whistleblower is a person working within an organization who reports misconduct. A whistleblower may be a current or past employee, and the misconduct may be ongoing at the time of the report or may have taken place in the past.

In Florida, whistleblowers have several productions under the law.  This is a public policy to encourage workers to report misconduct of their employer without the fear for retaliation.

Florida Whistleblowers Act

The Florida Whistleblowers Act protects employees who object to, or refuse to participate in, an activity, policy, or practice of the employer which is in violation of a law, rule, or regulation.

Dodd Frank Act

Dodd Frank Act protects whistleblowers who provide information to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Commodities Futures Trading Commission, or the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection.

Sarbanes Oxley Act

Sarbanes Oxley Act protects whistleblowers in cases involving fraud, violations of SEC rules or regulations, or fraud against shareholders.

Whistleblower Protection Act

Whistleblower Protection Act protects federal government employee whistleblowers in cases involving agency misconduct.
